Dr. McCarthy was the director of the pediatrics intensive care unit at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN for 10 years. He made a career change into sleep medicine following a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.

He is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has held formal academic appointments at the DC Children’s National Medical Center, the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and Kosair’s Children’s Hospital at the University of Louisville.
